Privacy Policy — “Add to NotebookLM” Chrome Extension

“Add to NotebookLM” (the “Extension”) helps you add web pages, YouTube videos and YouTube comments as sources to your own Google Notebook (Gemini Notebook / NotebookLM) account. The Extension is free, open source (source code), contains no advertising, no analytics and no telemetry.

Summary

• The Extension does not operate any servers. Your data is processed locally in your browser and is transmitted to exactly one destination: Google's own services within your own Google account (notebook.google.com), and only when you explicitly trigger an action.
• The developer receives nothing: no browsing data, no personal data, no usage statistics.
• Nothing is sold or shared with third parties. Ever.

What data the Extension processes and why

• Google account emails. To support multiple signed-in Google accounts, the Extension reads the list of accounts signed in to your browser (via Google's ListAccounts endpoint) and shows their email addresses in the account selector. The selected account's email is stored in your browser's extension storage so your choice is remembered. Emails are never transmitted anywhere else.
• Titles and URLs of open tabs. Shown in the Extension's own UI when you use bulk tab import, so you can choose which tabs to add. Only the URLs of tabs you select are sent — to your Google Notebook.
• Page content as PDF. When you explicitly click “Add as PDF”, the Extension captures the current page as a PDF using Chrome's debugger API (Page.printToPDF only, attached for the duration of the capture and detached immediately) and uploads the PDF to your Google Notebook. Chrome displays a notice while the debugger is attached. No other debugging capability is used.
• YouTube comments and video metadata. When you explicitly run comment import on a YouTube video, comments are fetched, formatted locally and added as text sources to your Google Notebook.
• Settings. Language, theme, selected account and similar preferences are kept in Chrome extension storage (locally, optionally synced by Chrome to your own browser profile).

Authentication

The Extension does not collect, read or store your passwords, cookies or tokens. Requests to Google services are performed by your browser with the session cookies your browser already holds, the same way the Google Notebook web page itself works. Short-lived anti-CSRF request tokens provided by the Google Notebook page are used in memory to perform the actions you request and are not persisted.

Data sharing

The only recipient of any data is Google LLC — specifically, your own Google Notebook (notebook.google.com) and YouTube (www.youtube.com) — acting on your explicit request. Google's handling of that data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. There are no other recipients. The developer does not sell or transfer user data to third parties; does not use user data for purposes unrelated to the Extension's single purpose (managing sources in your Google Notebook); and does not use user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

Data retention

The Extension retains only local settings in Chrome extension storage. They are removed when you uninstall the Extension. The Extension keeps no copies of pages, PDFs or comments after they are handed to your Google Notebook.

Security

All network requests go directly from your browser to Google over HTTPS.

Limited Use disclosure

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Changes

Changes to this policy will be published on this page with an updated effective date.
